In addition to our main facility in Tomah, we offer services in four community-based outpatient clinics. These clinics are located in LaCrosse, Clark County, Wausau, and Wisconsin Rapids. VAMC Tomah is one of seven facilities that comprise Veterans Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN12) which is administratively headquartered at Hines, IL, and includes facilities in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
The incumbent for this position may be eligible to apply for the Education Debt Reduction Program, up to $120,000 over 5 years, depending on the amount of verified qualifying debt balance and funding availability. The Tomah VA Medical Center is hiring for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to work Inpatient or Outpatient at the Tomah VA Medical Center and Outpatient at the Wisconsin Rapids Outpatient Clinic. Primary duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
The NP / CNS is a prescriber for veterans, including medication management and clinical management of veterans.
The NP / CNS will be supported by medical physicians, psychiatrists, and other NP/PAs.
The NP / CNS may be asked to respond to consults initiated from medicine inpatient units and other CLCs in this facility.
There will be authorization with supervising psychiatrist/psychiatrist on inpatient psych unit regarding all admissions and discharges.
The NP / CNS will provide intake, assessment, and treatment services
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency AND accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. The completion of course work equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript.
Must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a State, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body
Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse AND Nurse Practitioner in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia
Proficient in spoken and written English
Must be licensed with prescriptive privileges.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Mental Health
Salary will be commensurate with experience, using VA’s market-based physician pay system. Salary up to $133,960
