This position is responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the delivery of care to our Critical Care Unit patients and families. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) practices competencies within three spheres of influence: the patient/client, nursing and nursing practice and the organization/system sphere with the patient being the most important sphere. The CNS functions in the role of expert clinician, educator, leader, consultant, and researcher. Incorporated within each of these role functions, the CNS is a leader, role model, patient advocate and change agent. In this position the CNS monitors the ongoing care of patients, collaborates with the healthcare team and provides clinical support to improve patient care and patient outcomes. The CNS provides advanced practice role-modeling, professional communication and reflective analysis of outcome data and evidence based practice.
Minimum five (5) years recent direct clinical experience in area of specialization
Teaching experience preferred; including knowledge of adult education learning theories and curriculum design
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Windows computer skills including proficient use of Microsoft Word
Current California RN license
Masters Degree in Nursing with CNS focus required
Current California Clinical Nurse Specialist license
Certification in area of clinical specialty preferred
Current AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers certification
