Position Summary: Join our team! Our Mayo Clinic Health System - Mankato practice is launching nurse midwifery services. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing practice.
Responsibilities: The Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) at Mayo Clinic may deliver a full range of health care services for women, including primary care, gynecologic and family planning services, preconception care, care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period, and treatment of male partners for sexually transmitted infections. CNMs work independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. CNMs provide initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment. They conduct physical examinations; prescribe medications; admit, manage, and discharge patients; order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and order the use of medical devices. Midwifery care also includes health promotion, disease prevention, and individualized wellness education and counseling. Mayo Clinic CNMs are also expected to serve as mentors, to teach students and residents in the clinical setting, and to participate in ongoing quality improvement and research projects as appropriate.
Qualifications: Masters prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM). Body mobility, coordinated dexterity of hands, ears, and eyes; sensory acuity, and verbal ability are required.
Additional Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include: Doctoral-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and midwifery program approved by the American College or Nurse Midwives (ASNM). Active membership in the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM) and experience in midwifery practice.
Preferred certifications include any of the following: fetal monitoring, lactation consulting, group prenatal care, and ultrasonography.
License or Certification: A current MN APRN license, current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB), BLS certification, and NRP certification required. CenteringPregnancy facilitator training and limited obstetrical ultrasound education and competency are required within one year of start date.
