Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Job Summary: The Advance Practitioner Nurse (APN) is a nurse leader and integral member of the multidisciplinary team. This position is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge as well as treating patients on an outpatient basis. The Advance Practitioner Nurse is responsible for assisting with the achievement of patient outcomes in accordance with the missions of the hospital.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of in-patient psychiatric treatment including medications and treatment options.
2. Knowledge of statutes and rules governing advance practice nursing in TX and ability to function within legal boundaries.
3. Maintain knowledge of current skills in the advanced practice nursing field (PNP).
4. Skill and ability to use critical thinking and decision making at an advanced level, commensurate with the autonomy, authority and responsibility of his / her practice category.
5. Skill in guiding and teaching clients and other health team members.
6. Skill in assessing patients at an advanced level, identifying health status including abnormal conditions, establishing a diagnosis, and developing and implementing treatment plans.
7. Skill in recognizing personal and professional limitations of knowledge and experience including planning for situations beyond specialized expertise and collaborating with or referring patients to other health care providers as appropriate.
8. Ability to complete work in an organized and timely manner
9. Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of hospital staff.
10. The advanced practice nurse shall retain professional accountability for advanced practice nursing care when delegating interventions.
11. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team to enhance patient care.
