Responsible for ensuring the Transplant Program is compliant with all CMS and UNOS regulations specific to transplant. Monitors, submits, and audits data to ensure ongoing compliance with UNOS and CMS. Communicates any regulatory changes or concerns to Director and Chief Medical Officer. Serves on QAPI and CQI committee and coordinates activities of that group. Assists in preparation for any “Requests for Information” (RFI) for clinical approvals of the programs. Collaborates with Transplant leadership on policy and procedure development or revisions. Works closely with Chief Medical Officer and Quality leadership.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare related field
Must have working knowledge of clinical information systems and medical terminology
Experience with data and statistical analysis
Ability to abstract data from medical records
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
Must be detail oriented
Responsible for regulatory compliance with CMS, UNOS, OPTN, and other bodies that regulate and grant certification for our center to perform solid organ transplants.
Reports compliance issues to Chief Medical Officer, and Transplant leadership for resolution.
Briefs the Chief Medical Officer and Quality leadership on any material changes in CMS or UNOS, regulatory changes or required changes to department policies and procedures.
Represents the Transplant Program along with the Director and Clinical Manager(s) during surveys from CMS, UNOS, and Joint Commission.
Manages all communication and requests from CMS, UNOS, and OPTN.
Audits charts and documentation to identify gaps for PDCA based performance improvement.
Compiles evidence of compliance with CMS QAPI requirements.
Generates required reports and lists of patients and data requested by survey teams.
Compiles and submits all data related to organs, recipients, donors, and other statistics as required.
Ensures accuracy of outcomes data submitted to UNOS for SRTR which is the public quality profile of the programs as shown on www.ustransplant.org.
Completes biannual aggregate data submissions for pubic release.
Ensures physicians in the program have timely submissions of time sheets for the Medicare Cost Report each month.
Maintains timely submission of all forms to the OPTN through UNET including Recipient and Living Donor Feedback
Information, Living Donor Registration Forms, Living Donor Follow-up Forms, Organ Specific Transplant Recipient
Follow-up Forms, Recipient Malignancy Forms for each patient on the waiting list, transplanted, or followed at the center, and TCR and TRR Forms.
Complete all UNOS confirmation reports
Verification of all UNOS productivity reports
Reporting of all organs the programs received offers for and the reason codes for the declined
Perform corrections with any data or forms submitted to UNOS/OPTN.
Manages monthly volume reports for all programs.
Collaborates with Transplant leadership on policy and procedure development or revision.
Assists in preparation for any RFIs for clinical approvals of the programs.
Attends and participates in meetings and staff in-services.
Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Completes mandatory continuing education activities such as the UNOS national meeting or others as identified to maintain expertise in regulatory matters specific to transplant.
