Responsible for facility wide infection control program including the identification, reduction and prevention of healthcare related infections. Implement effective infection prevention and control measures based on current standards and/or recommendations. Conduct surveillance of infections, and environment and oversee public health reporting. Consult on infection control and employee health issues. Participate in revision and review of all policies pertaining to infection control. Develop and present educational programs for staff/patients/visitors relevant to Infection Control. Work collaboratively with all levels of health care professionals.
Infection control techniques and standards are delivered in accordance with professional standards of practice as developed by the Infection Control Department, outside regulatory bodies and hospital wide policies and procedures.
Daily responsibility maintained for coordination of infection control activities and trends; infectious diseases and outbreaks are acted upon and reported in accordance with standards.
Infection Control Committee is led to advance the agenda of infection control and achieve established goals.
Infection control database is maintained to ensure compliance with infection control standards.
Patient safety and infection control data is measured, analyzed and recommendations are developed to achieve established standards and goals.
Consultation is provided for patient care staff working with patient safety and quality improvement activities to ensure knowledge of infection control standards and goals.
Mentoring and teaching for all patient care staff is provided to promote infection control practices and adherence to standards.
Infection control surveillance is conducted to identify trends and actions necessary to meet standards.
Facility annual report outlines strengths, areas for improvement and goals for the coming year.
Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
Masters Degree in Nursing or a related field preferred.
Minimum 3 years clinical experience.
Infection control experience preferred.
Current license from the Massachusetts Board of Registration as a Registered Nurse
