Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Actively involved, at the executive level, in the leadership of the organization. Organizes and administers areas of Patient Care Services. The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) functions under the direction and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and assumes responsibility and accountability for Nursing, Pharmacy, Dialysis, Radiology, Lab, Dietary, Nutrition Services and other clinical departments as assigned. The CCO in collaboration with the leadership team, develops, implements, interprets and assures compliance with policies and procedures including compliance with federal and state regulations and accreditation standards. The Chief Clinical Officer is responsible for implementing hospital goals and objectives based on budget parameters. The CCO reinforces the mission and vision of the hospital in all interactions.
Responsible for providing professional working conditions for employees.
Develops and organizes programs, policies and procedures to assess, evaluate and meet the needs of the patient.
Implements standards of nursing practice, reviewing and revising as necessary, to reflect changes in nursing practice and patient population. Promotes rehabilitation nursing philosophy and practice.
Assures that clear, concise and current written policies and procedures are available to assist the staff and minimize risk factors.
Recommends modifications, additions or deletions to staffing plans to ensure optimal patient care coverage, meet productivity requirements and provide for safe delivery of patient care. Develops nursing staffing plans for the hospital.
Maintains close communication with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
Assures professional performance of all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Participates with leadership and the medical staff in the hospital's decision-making process and serves as a member of professional staff committees in matters pertaining to patient care.
Develops budget for assigned departments in collaboration with CEO and CFO and manages costs associated with personnel, equipment and supplies.
Utilizes input from managers in planning the budgeting requirements for personnel, performance of work, supplies and equipment. Suggests recommendations to the CEO and Controller.
Responsible for cost controls to insure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from approved departmental budgets.
Collaborates with hospital leaders to assure Functional Independent Measure (FIM) education and training is provided for clinical staff and assures timely and accurate FIM assessments are performed.
Implements an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care and clinical services.
Collaborates with hospital leaders in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising and monitoring hospital wide performance improvement activities.
Assures that results of each department's performance improvement activities are reported to the CQPI committee, administration and the Medical Executive Committee.
Assures that nursing and clinical leaders review monthly risk indicators, patient satisfaction results, and outcomes in order to continually improve performance and quality outcomes.
Assures departments adhere to dress code, appearances are neat and clean, and proper identification is worn at all times.
Assures completion of annual education requirements and performance evaluations.
Ensures departments comply with patient confidentiality at all times.
Maintains, and assures that staff maintains, good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
Assures representation of the organization in a positive and professional manner.
Assures leadership and/or staff attendance at committee meetings, CQPI and management meetings, as appropriate.
Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level.
Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire, safety, infection control and emergency management.
Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel.
Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital.
Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state. Master's degree preferred.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
Minimum of five years of previous nursing management required
Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, evaluate and direct activities of clinical personnel; effective oral and written communication skills, in English with additional languages preferred; proficiency in basic computer skills required.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
Good general health and stress coping ability. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Normal walking, standing, sitting, bending, carrying of light items such as books and papers and computer related work. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with all constituents (patients, families, peers, and other healthcare team members) as needed for leadership, assessment, intervention, and professional development.
