JOB SUMMARY:Â The Shift Supervisor, through effective leadership, supervises hospital-wide nursing care provided to patients on a specific shift consistent with the hospitalâ€™s philosophy related to quality patient care.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Nursing Supervisor will:
â€¢Ensure appropriate staffing coverage for all areas
â€¢Provide clinical and administrative oversight for registered nurses Â andÂ MHTâ€™s
â€¢Ensure annual hospital and departmental competencies are up to date
â€¢Assist with departmental Performance Improvement Indicators
â€¢Assist with staff orientation
Special Skills:Â Ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process; ability to communicate effectively with others. Able to manage complex workloads and patient care
Knowledge:Â Prefer knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing principles, working concepts and theory,Â leadership skills, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management
