The individual in this position is qualified to fulfill high quality nursing care, hemodynamic monitoring, patient sedation, and emergency on-call response. Fulfills this responsibility in the provision of assigned direct and indirect quality patient care in accordance with the mission of CHRISTUS Health and Cabrini Radiology. Manages the daily operations for Radiology nursing staff, ensures safe and efficient daily workflow in Special Procedures, and provides nursing support to all Radiology departments. Oversees the work of other nursing personnel by training, allocation, and monitoring work. Responsible for maintaining, implementing, and evaluating policy and procedures. Ensures Joint Commission compliance. Provides services to patients of all ages at a high competency level. Oversees all operations and Specials personnel including Technologists, Scrub Techs, and Nursing Staff.
Acts as liaison between employees and Administration. Services as interdepartmental representative. Handles conflicts in a manner, which results in a mutually accepted resolution. Assessment of the patient / Admission to Radiology
Introduces self / calls patient by name / makes comfortable with surroundings.
Completes and documents all elements of the outpatient/inpatient check-in sheets.
Verifies any conditions affecting patient's inability to undergo examinations or procedures, communicating and documenting findings.
Addresses patient needs administering any ordered medication based on individual patient needs.
Incorporates cultural and ethnic factors into assessment/care.
Observing for and communicating changes in patient's condition to physician as well as the patient record.
Performs reassessments at intervals as required or appropriate to the patient's needs.
Communicates with patient's family.
Plays an integral part in infection control including equipment / room cleanliness.
Adheres to facility safety guidelines.
Ensures accurate patient records / patient charges.
Acts as an educator prior to, and after procedure teaching / answering patient / student questions, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
Assists in teaching and explanation of nursing functions to individuals such as student nurses.
Responsible for coordinating the personnel activities of the Radiology Nursing/Special Procedures Department.
Follows a daily schedule to ensure a smooth transition from shift to shift
Has patients transported to department
Creates and provides work and call schedules
Communicates with SFCH and utilizes resources as often as possible, such as group purchasing, cost accounting, and management information
Submits variance reports to Administrative Director.
Maintains good working standards. Direct department activities in accordance with national and state standards and administrative policies and affirms department philosophy and values.
Responsible for directing plans/ proposes and initiates activities and future developments of the department
Outlines work schedules; reviews requests for priorities. Evaluates performances so that work is done in a timely and professional manner, for all personnel of Special Procedures.
Sets obtainable goals and objectives for employees. Plans work according to schedule. Encourages a shared responsibility. Evaluates quantity and quality of work performance in a positive manner that encourages continuing or developing high quality and quantity output.
Objectively communicates changes to departmental personnel. Post memos of changes that would affect the organization of the department in a timely manner
Assist with planning and preparing budget of all equipment, staffing, new facilities, and department supplies.
Counsels employees in a positive and constructive approach; maintains confidentiality of information; and makes employees aware of promotional possibilities based on good job performance and knowledge.
Handles personnel problems, provides technical guidance to staff, and is available to employees who wish to discuss and problems.
Completes annual employee evaluations; for fair and equitable merit pay raises; and offers recognition and criticism for job improvement.
Interviews and nominates prospective employees in a professional and unbiased manner
Review orientation and training of employees and assures that they have a good knowledge of what is required in their job
Provides in-services and other educational methods and maintains documentation of in-services programs.
Assists the quality assurance technologist in maintaining a quality assurance program
Responsible for directing department function to ensure efficient work and quality patient care
Consults with Medical Director before final decision is made on policy or procedure that would affect the quality of care
In cooperation with the quality assurance technologist, monitors the licensure of technologist and registry renewals.
Meets requirements of joint commission and makes available all material to meet the requirements of JCAHO.
Maintains available information and personnel for audit, accounting quality assurance, planning, employee relations, and productivity.
Updates and reviews policies and procedure manual. Implement policy and procedure and stays abreast of current changes.
Assures patient and financial confidentiality; respects the dignity of the patient while withholding the confidentiality of information that is not to be discussed.
Ensure proper staffing that ensures coverage and quality, and limits overtime.
Objectively communicates administrative/operational changes to departmental personnel. posts memos in a timely manner of any changes that would affect the organization of the department.
Assists in directing and suoervising personnel in a manner that promotes their well being and ensures quality patient care within the Special Procedures Department.
Minimum of three years critical care/emergency nursing experience.
