The Flight Nurse provides comprehensive care to critically ill and/or injured persons in the air medical environment. Practice is carried out with a high degree of independence in challenging out-of-hospital environment and at regional health care facilities. The position also has significant responsibility for public relations and involves interacting with a wide range of healthcare and public safety professionals in stressful situations.
Current RN license by the State of Texas
State of Texas EMT-B (EMT-P required within first year of employment)
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing (BSN preferred)
Three years of critical care/emergency nursing experience
Previous Flight experience is strongly encouraged
ACLS certification upon hire
PALS certification upon hire
TNATC or ATLS required within one year of hire
One of the following certifications required at hire: CCRN,CFRN,CTRN,FP-C CCP-C
A second certification is required within 18 months of hire: CCRN,CFRN,CTRN, FP-C CCP-C
Emotional stability to function effectively in unpredictable situations
Problem solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgement
