River Oaks Hospital, located in metropolitan New Orleans, Louisiana, is a private psychiatric facility for adults, adolescents and children. Since 1970, River Oaks has established a tradition of excellence in the treatment of acute psychiatric illness, dual diagnosis, alcohol and drug detoxification, trauma based disorders, compulsive behaviors, and eating disorders, River Oaks has provided quality treatment to service individuals suffering from mental illness, and/or addictive disorders. Situated on a 14 acre campus, services are available at all levels of care (inpatient, day or partial hospitalization, outpatient, and intensive outpatient).
River Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented LPN.Â Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Coordinates nursing care of the patient; participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary staff and other patient care
personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Must evaluate the care for each patient upon admission and when appropriate on an
ongoing basis in accordance with acceptable standards of nursing practice and hospital policy. Evaluation would include, but not limited to assessing the patientâ€™s care needs,
patientâ€™s health status/conditioning, as well as the patientâ€™s response to interventions. This position provides a high level of quality service to patients of all ages found within the
scope of services.
Orients the patient to the following within 8 hours of transfer or admission: program staff, living quarters, other patients, patientâ€™s rights, and procedures of the program.
Assists the RN with the nursing assessment and initial treatment plan within 24 hours of admission.
Assists the RN in formulating treatment plans from information obtained in initial staffing within the frame established by the program.
Initiates appropriate interventions in response to the psychosocial status of the patient.
Observes and assesses the physical status of the patient on an ongoing basis.
Demonstrates working knowledge of medications and their actions.
Administers medications appropriately and in a timely manner.
Writes daily nursing notes according to nursing service policy.
Initiates assessment and intervention upon identification of communicable diseases.
Works in cooperation with staff members and physicians to provide uniform patient care and meet the requirements of the hospital.
Observes confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information.
Accepts added assignments, irregular work schedules, and/or overtime when necessary to ensure patient care standards as documented in hospital policies.
Attends Clinical Supervision as outlined in Nursing Service policy.
