As a Lead Admissions Coordinator you will :
Oversees daily operations for the Admissions Coordinators. Manages schedules and evaluations for the Admissions Coordinator. Serves as a liaison with marketing, business office and administration of the facilities. Coordinates and plans the daily operation for all pre-admission activities. Coordinates admission with other departments by collecting and distributing the appropriate information. Identifies information needed from the referring hospital to finalize the admission.
Essential Functions :
Coordinates the patient admission functions in keeping with the mission and vision of the hospital.
Schedules all Admissions Coordinators. Approves vacation requests and arranges for coverage. Completes performance evaluations of Admission Coordinators.
Oversees daily activities of department.
Coordinates twice daily admission and marketing calls.
Intervenes in conflict issues.
Cross-trains staff in all job responsibilities.
Coordinates and facilitates the admission of patients from the referral sources: Identifies medical record information needed from referring facility; Assists in completing the Pre-admission Clinical Evaluation (PACE) form to assist in evaluating appropriateness of admission; Applies appropriate clinical guidelines to pre-admission data; Notifies referring facility of admission decision; Expedites transfer; Facilitates and coordinates physician-to-physician communication as necessary; Identifies and communicates specific patient needs for equipment, supplies, Pharmacy and consult services; and Provides hospital team with needed information on pending/new admissions.
Develops the necessary admission and patient day forecast for the institution in conjunction with the healthcare team. Develops appropriate analysis, using established reporting mechanisms and provides data and statistics as required, within the established time frames.
Maintains a close working relationship with Medical Staff, interdisciplinary heath team, and with external professional groups and agencies.
Represents the company and hospital at professional seminars and community meetings.
Ability to discern, collect, organize, evaluate and communicate pertinent clinical information with effective verbal and written skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Computer application skills including word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email and calendar.
Must have good and regular attendance.
Approximate percent of time required to travel:
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in clinical area preferred.
Healthcare professional licensure preferred (ie: Registered Nurse, LPN, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker) Preferred
Three years' healthcare experience required.
