| JOB TITLE: Associate Professor LOCATION: Rockville, Maryland DEPARTMENT: Research WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Full Time JOB SUMMARY: Completes major scientific tasks for research/evaluation projects including study design, project development, data analysis, scientific oversight and manuscript preparation in accordance with nationally accepted ethical and regulatory guidelines. Demonstrates growing independence and national stature with the research community. Directly accountable to the Department, Center or Institute Director or Chair. COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates the ability to provide discipline-specific scientific expertise to research programs and to supervise scientific activities of a research team. Excellent analytic, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required. Demonstrated ability to obtain sustainable financial support for a research program. Demonstrated success in publishing results of research program in high quality peer reviewed journals. Recognition for research expertise. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: PhD in relevant discipline or MD/DO preferred; terminal degree and clinical training with national board certification in relevant clinical specialty accepted. Demonstrated success as an Assistant Professor or equivalent is required. A national reputation of excellence and a history of successful publication and grant funding is required.
