Act under the supervision of a physician to provide direct and indirect patient care services for the department of Neurology, including assisting with the in-patient Neurology service during overnight and weekend shifts.Essential Functions - Practices under the supervision of a physician and practices collaboratively with other health care providers to provide high quality health care to children.
- Performs appropriate assessment of patient/family upon referral/admission.
- Performs ongoing assessment and evaluation of patient progress and revision of interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Uses prescriptive authority as soon as appropriately credentialed to do so.
- Collaborates interprofessionally as needed. Identifies patient/family need for further resources and initiates appropriate referrals.
- Documents patient care and progress on patient's chart
- Assists the Staff Nurse in formulating the Nursing Care Plan and setting priorities based on the patient and family.
- Coordinates Nursing Plan for Discharge in collaboration with the Staff Nurse and other members of the health care team.
- Provides patient/family teaching based on identification of learning needs.
- Acts as a patient’s advocate.
- Demonstrates proficiency in the care of all age groups; neonates, infants, toddlers, school aged, adolescents, and adults.
- Serves as a consultant within specialty area for colleagues both intra and extra departmentally and in the community.
- Demonstrates effective communication skills with health care team and patient, family, and members of the health care team.
- Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of the Nemours Foundation.
- Maintains current knowledge base of specialty area and promotes standards of care.
Requirements: - Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies
- At least one year of related clinical experience
- Demonstrable experience with clinical procedures
- 1-3 years of job related experience
- Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
- Active Delaware Physician Assistant license
- Delaware Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
- Federal Drug Enforcement Agency Registration (DEA) with Delaware address
- Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required
