JOB TITLE: Nursing Assistant LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT: Nursing - Psychiatry WORK SCHEDULE: Nights WORK TYPE: Full Time
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible and accountable for performing a wide range of direct patient care tasks. The performance of tasks allows the care team to provide quality care. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Functions under the delegation of the Registered Nurse (RN). Directly reports to the Operations Manager.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family experience by optimizing all customer interactions. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of quality that will maximize patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively by utilizing good communication skills, which include courteous, tactful, respectful and non-aggressive behavior.
Demonstrates basic math skills.
Demonstrates the ability to keep current with unit and organizational communication (i.e. reading emails, minutes, and bulletin boards and attending staff meetings and performance improvement activities).
Demonstrates basic computer skills, basic navigation in a Windows environment, and passwords and security. Accesses the InfoWeb and internet, uses basic browser functionality, and understands policy on Internet usage. Demonstrates the ability to compose, send, and read emails, understands email functionality and conventions related to replying.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Successful completion of role orientation and competencies. Continuing in-services and education programs required.
BLS certification preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
