Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
PPSAT is seeking a Clinician (Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife) with excellent customer service skills and reproductive health care experience for the Vienna, W. VA health center. The Clinician functions in an expanded role in the area of ambulatory reproductive health care. Within the context of PPSAT medical protocols, the Clinician will provide primary reproductive health care for women of all ages and limited reproductive services for men of all ages. We're seeking candidates with a minimum of 2 years of women's health experience.
This is a part-time opportunity with a schedule of working approximately 16 hours a week, Mondays 1-5, Tuesdays 1-6, and Wednesdays 9-1.
Practice in accordance with established PPSAT policies and procedures (Medical, Laboratory, Quality & Risk Management, OSHA / Infection Control).
Secure a complete health history, including obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, sexual, family health, and psychosocial, and record findings accurately and succinctly.
Perform physical examinations with special emphasis on the reproductive system, including breast examination, pelvic examination, cancer screening tests, diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other types of more specialized procedures such as endometrial biopsies and colposcopies, as may be indicated by medical protocols and clinical privileging.
Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies as indicated and permitted by PPSAT medical protocols.
Provide education and relevant health instruction for women and men in need of reproductive related services, including fertility control, infertility, sexually transmitted infections, family planning, nutrition, sexuality, and principles of health promotion and maintenance. Maintain current knowledge of medical practice in the reproductive health field.
Prescribe, dispense, and administer appropriate contraceptives to clients in accordance with PPSAT policies and procedures.
Collaborate within PPSAT’s medical services department, with health center teams, workgroups and other community agencies and resources (e.g., physicians, local health departments, social service, nutritionists, dentists, and parent education groups), through joint planning and coordination of activities, in providing comprehensive care.
Interpret scientific studies based on knowledge of basic research principles.
Provide general health supervision, health maintenance, education, and counseling to women during the life cycle.
Provide general healthcare to transgendered or gender non-conforming patients, including gender transition treatments as indicated by medical protocols and clinical privileging.
Recognize gynecological deviations from normal, formulate a diagnosis in collaboration with a physician, and provide education and management, or referrals when appropriate.
In centers providing abortion, provide client and physician support, including but not limited to lab testing, sonography, informed consent, POC evaluation, medication administration, recovery oversight and discharge for clients, post abortion follow up communications and office visits.
Act as an instructor and resource for staff training and development, in-services, and meetings, as directed by Health Center Manager.
Recognize ethical, legal, and professional issues inherent in providing health care.
License or certification for physician, advanced practice nurse/nurse practioner within West Virginia. Physician, Nurse practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife training and subsequent experience in reproductive health care.
Minimum 2 years of women's health care experience.
CPR certification must be kept up to date throughout employment.
One to five years’ relevant medical experience, preferably in family planning/ gynecology.
Excellent communication skills, “bedside manner” and ability to establish professional rapport with clients, coworkers, and communities of diverse backgrounds.
Eager to grow professionally and personally.
Willing to learn new skills, apply new techniques, technologies and approaches in pursuit of quality, innovation, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Must be willing to respond to changing needs of the health center, department, organization, and community.
NCC certification (or certification by another recognized body) recommended but not required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
