Coordinates the credentialing and privilege delineation process for the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals. Coordinates with and confers with other personnel involved in the credentialing process, resolving issues and communicating all activities to the Manager of the department. Provides administrative and clerical support to Department Chiefs/Division Directors and Credentials Review Committee by obtaining and verifying the information required to make pertinent credentialing decisions. Maintains knowledge of Medical Staff Bylaws and related documents, TJC and NCQA accreditation standards and other relevant requirements from external agencies such as the Department of Public Health and the relevant Massachusetts licensing boards.
High School degree or equivalent required. Associates degree in Medical Staff or Health Science preferred. Able to read, write and speak English.
Two years of experience in a healthcare administrative position required, with two years in Medical Staff Credentialing preferred. Experience with FPPE/OPPE preferred. Computer experience with Microsoft Office, data entry and retrieval required. Familiarity with Midas Seeker and Cactus preferred.
Engages in extensive contact with all levels of personnel and providers inside and outside of Hospital in a professional, confidential manner.
Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position and its location
PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION PREFERRED
Current certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services as a Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS AND LEVEL OF AUTONOMY:
Reports to and is directly accountable to Department Manager. Functions independently with intermittent supervision.
