Tenet Healthcare has an immediate need for an experienced Manager, Benefits. This position is based in our corporate headquarters, currently in downtown Dallas, but relocating in Q1 of 2020 to Addison, Texas.
The Manager of Benefits will work closely and report to the Senior Director of Benefits with primary responsibilities to include strategy design, development, evaluation, implementation and overall management of large, complex benefit programs and vendors (may include Wellness, Health & Welfare, Medical, Dental, Vision, Pharmacy, Voluntary and Additional Benefits)
In conjunction with the Senior Director of Benefits, other team members and with support of external suppliers, consultants and internal staff, the manager will be involved in developing Tenetï¿½s health & welfare offering, ensuring the plans and programs are effectively communicated to employees, ensuring the plans and programs are administered in line with company policies, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations. In addition, this position may be involved with acquisition and divestiture activity related to Benefits. The position is responsible for analyzing cost and quality trends and identifying opportunities in design and execution for health & welfare benefits programs.
The ideal candidate has experience in managing benefit programs and vendors, as well as collaborating across a large multidivisional organization.
ï¿½Assist with identifying and developing strategies to manage plan costs, improve health of population, provide competitive benefits and comply with health reform regulations
ï¿½Subject matter expert for specific benefit plans, understanding and analyzing current and historical claim and engagement trends. Using that knowledge to forecast future risks and opportunities to create, recommend and set strategy. Act in a consulting-type role to share this knowledge with internal partners and to identify the impact of business decisions on Benefit programs
ï¿½Provide guidance and direction to external vendors including consultants, insurance carriers, and other program providers to manage vendor performance, align on strategic priorities and measure clinical and financial outcomes in line with stated strategies and objectives
ï¿½Manage 3rd party vendors in order to drive for continuous improvement, streamline for efficiency and ensure policies and processes are sustained. Provide regular feedback and measure results
ï¿½Involved in plan design, development, implementation and change management. Lead cross-functional teams (internal and external) to achieve stated outcomes
ï¿½Serves as subject matter expert in partnership with internal stakeholders to develop benefit communications, outreach and training materials. Partner with HR Team to ensure effective execution and delivery of communications to employees
ï¿½May represent the Benefits to support mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures during due diligence and implementation
ï¿½Partners with HR on annual enrollment support, which may include conducting employee meetings (onsite and/or virtual)
ï¿½Ensure management and administrative practices are in compliance with plan documents, ERISA, Department of Labor regulations and Union Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) for all US Health and Insurance programs
ï¿½Provide guidance in the interpretation of Health and Insurance policies and program guidelines
ï¿½Provide thought leadership; gather information from vendors and design a quarterly benefits delivery scorecard for all Health and Insurance Benefit programs across the US that provides in-depth data analytics, insights and recommendations that aligns with Tenetï¿½s Healthcare Strategic plans. Monitor and report out on effectiveness of programs, drivers of medical tends and identify opportunities in the area of pricing, utilization and care management
ï¿½Ensure adherence to Tenet Healthcare governance policies related to Health and Insurance benefit programs in the US (i.e. Tenet Healthcare Administrative Committees, Quarterly SOX compliance process, etcï¿½)
ï¿½Bachelorï¿½s degree required; MBA and/or Certified Benefit Professional certification preferred
ï¿½Strong working knowledge of employee benefit programs
ï¿½5+ years of professional work experience with at least 3 years in Benefits/Total Rewards
ï¿½Ability to analyze large volume of data, develop meaningful insights and recommendations
ï¿½Ability to work in a high volume, fast-paced environment
ï¿½Ability to work as a team player and influence cross functional teams
ï¿½Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills
ï¿½Excellent project management and organizational skills; must be able to prioritize, multi-task and manage project deadlines
