As a Coordinator of Infection Prevention and Associate Safety you need to know how to:
Develop and coordinate a comprehensive and proactive Infection Prevention and Control Program Plan and Risk Assessment, using application of epidemiological principles and surveillance.
Act as a resource to providers and staff regarding the reduction and management of risks of disease transmission.
Advise and consult with providers, nurses and other healthcare personal concerning precautions to be taken to protect patients, staff, and visitors from possible contamination or infection.
Conduct infection surveillance/monitoring through interaction with patient care areas and staff members.
Analyze data and trends from surveillance/monitoring and collaborate with and assist department leaders with performance improvement activities.
Routinely conduct Infection Control/Isolation rounds, assessing appropriateness of isolation precautions, patient placement and other matters of concern throughout the organization.
Actively participate in and monitor infection control recommendations related to construction and renovation projects including Infection Control Risk Assessments and compliance with regulations.
Act as the liaison between Holy Rosary Healthcare and the County/State Health Departments regarding Infection Prevention and Control issues.
Participate in the development and review of associate safety and health related organizational goals and implement a comprehensive and proactive associate safety and health program to include organizational strategic goals.
Manage risk assessments/surveys and audits and prioritize and communicate opportunities for performance improvement.
Develop and facilitate associate training and education of associate safety and associate health programs.
Coordinate the Associate Health screening programs for new associates, vendors, contractors, volunteers, providers and students to include TB testing, Immunization/vaccination program, respiratory fit testing and coordinating drug/alcohol screenings.
Work in conjunction with Human Resources to provide all necessary documentation for eligible associate verification.
Maintain compliance as required by state and federal agencies including associate health file audit and maintaining and updating of confidential records.
Develop and review policies and procedures related to Associate Safety and Health practices in accordance with regulatory guidelines and state and federal agencies.
Facilitate coordination of Associate Health and Wellness Programs as directed by SCL Health.

Graduate of an accredited nursing school, required
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or successful completion of accredited program within 5 years of your hire, required
Current, unencumbered Montana state license as a registered nurse, required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required
Current Infection Prevention and Control certification or successful completion of certification within 5 years of hire into position, required
Current certification in safety, hazard management or industrial hygiene or successful completion of certification in safety related fields within 2 years of your hire, required
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience, required
Previous Infection Control experience, preferred
Previous experience with regulatory agencies such as CMS, The Joint Commission and OSHA, preferred
Previous experience in healthcare safety and occupational safety and health, preferred
