The Division of Adolescent Medicine is seeking a Research Associate for a longitudinal study of the natural history of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infection in adolescents and young adult females and immune activation, oral health and HIV infection.
As our research associate, you will be responsible for troubleshooting independently, development of protocols when needed and performing analysis as needed on archived and new specimens. You will also be responsible for keeping excel sheets for incoming specimens for tracking and repository, analysis which may include DNA extraction and amplification by PCR, HPV genotyping, cytokine analysis on specimens using Luminex platform and ELISA assays, and other duties.
Bachelors Degree in Science
Minimum 5 years of lab experience
Minimum 2 year experience in PCR techniques
Working knowledge of Molecular Biology Techniques including - Protease digestion of specimens, DNA preparation,PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), Hybridization, Washing
Protease digestion and execution of kit protocol for Roche Linear Array and Digene Hybrid capture system, including following established protocol and analysis of results
Skills in performing data collection and data analysis and presentation of results
Knowledge of sterile laboratory techniques
Knowledge of bio-safety and radiation safety guidelines
Experience supervising students and volunteers in a laboratory setting
Experience with purchasing of laboratory supplies in Bruin Buy or other procurement system
