Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. Nemours is seeking a CASUAL/PRN/part-time Switchboard Operator. To join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida.
This position is a versatile position depending on the time of day. During business hours, the operator answers calls, directs callers and dispatches pages according to procedures for all Florida sites. After business hours and on weekends, the operator provides functions by answering calls, taking required information and contacting appropriate on-call associates for all Florida sites.
CASUAL/PRN, part-time, likely needed any shift to cover days off, etc.
Perform switchboard functions as needed (answering calls, awareness of process, adhering to process changes, supporting and providing other departments coverage needs etc). Comfort with telephone and electronic call center software desired.
Courteously and promptly answer all external and internal calls.
Accurately triage and dispatch calls to appropriate phone extension promptly.
Process page requests accurately and according to protocol, utilizing Xtend software for documentation and tracking purposes.
Follow established on-call procedures for call triage and follow up on any concerns to ensure accurate information for after-hours operators.
Process hospital consults in the appropriate manner; immediately or according to AM consult procedure.
Communicate with clinic security, facilities staff and housekeeping staff for site situations and building security.
Relates well to people both inside and outside the organization and is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers. Can quickly find common ground and solve problems for the good of all.
Flexible and reliable is crucial to support our 24/7 clinics & hospital systems.
High School Diploma required.
Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience required.
Strong customer service skills required.
Microsoft Office experience.
Ability to communicate effectively with patient families, physicians, clinical staff and administrative staff required.
Must have availability to work a flexible schedule.
Flexibility to work holidays and weekends required
