The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) provides a range of mental health and substance use programs for children, adults, and older adults. Under the supervision of the BHRS Medical Director, the Supervising Behavioral Health Nurse will coordinate nursing services throughout Behavioral Health & Recovery Services System of Care. They will provide nursing leadership for the Crisis Stabilization Unit and the outpatient medication programs in the department. This position will ensure clinical coverage and assist with clinical care when necessary. The Supervising Behavioral Health Nurse develops nursing protocols, procedures and standards to ensure effective client care is in compliance with applicable laws and regulations using developed best practices. This position provides oversight to Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Behavioral Health Care Assistants and takes an active role in performance management, coaching, training, hiring, discipline and staff development. They will also manage contracts with various nursing registries and pharmacies and prepare the unit for State Agency inspections.
There is currently one full-time position available in the Behavioral Health & Recovery Services Division.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong foundation in mental health nursing approaches to serve individuals with serious mental illness. The ideal candidate possesses an ability to exercise initiative, independent analysis and judgment. They will have experience practicing nursing principles, techniques and have knowledge in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. They will have a sound knowledge of medical nursing issues and use of psychotropic medications. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing and supervising behavioral health programs and staff; skilled in developing and implementing program goals, objectives and policies and procedures; able to deal with critical and complex clinical or personnel related issues. The successful candidate will be articulate and effective in written and oral communication and possess the ability to work collaboratively with team members and personnel at all levels of the organization.

In addition, the Supervising Behavioral Health Nurse should have a decisive, yet collaborative and inclusive supervision style, which is critical in developing and maintaining productive working relationships.
