Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Responsible for the clinical operations of the SBHC. Obtains medical histories and performs physical examinations; diagnosis the actual and potential health problems or needs; diagnosis, treats and monitors chronic diseases; orders and interprets diagnosis studies; prescribes medications; provides well child care, including screening and immunizations; provides health maintenance care for adults, including annual physicals; promotes positive health behaviors and self care skills through education and counseling; collaborates with physician and other health professionals as needed to provide primary health care to populations served.
Graduate of a State Board and/or NLN accredited school of nursing or equivalent; graduate of a State Board and /or NLN accredited family practitioner program; state certification required; national certification preferred; Master's degree require or documentation of "Grand-fathering"
Nurse practitioner experience preferred, but not required
Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Louisiana required, current certification to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in the State of Louisiana required, certification as nurse practitioner by the American Nurse's Association preferred, but not required
