Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs a variety of moderately complex clerical duties for the designated area. Schedules, greets and registers patients. Obtains and verifies insurance information. Ensures completion and processing of all necessary paperwork related to patients and procedures. Enters patient information into computer system. Prepares new patient charts or retrieves established patient charts for clinical personnel. May collect and record payment for services. Answers incoming telephone calls and schedules appointments. May schedule and arrange patient consults. May schedule appointments with ancillary hospital departments for patient testing and contacts for test results. Performs various other clerical duties such as filing, distributing mail, copying, faxing, etc.
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. One to two years of job-related experience. Six to twelve months related on-line computer scheduling experience preferred.
3. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
