Under the direction of the Director of Performance Excellence, coordinates an effective medical staff peer review and nursing staff peer review process. The medical staff peer review supports medical staff reappointment, advancement, and clinical quality in compliance with Joint Commission ongoing physician performance evaluation (OPPE) and focused professional practice evaluation (FPPE) standards. This position supports the quality of nursing care through safe deliverance of standards of care and newly discovered evidence-based practices. Performs review of medical records as identified by preapproved clinical indicators based on established definitions for peer review for assigned populations and provides timely feedback to clinical management and physicians to ensure optimal quality patient care.
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or in active pursuit to obtain B.S. Degree required.
Five years of healthcare experience required.
2 years of experience in acute care setting, plus 1 year experience in Quality or Risk Management work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
Current licensure to practice professional nursing in Pennsylvania required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent clinical skills.

Current with trends and issues in healthcare focusing on legislation and regulation, disease management, guidelines, and standards, technology and performance outcomes.

Excellent organizational abilities with attention to detail and accuracy.

Working knowledge of clinical pathways, variance reporting, and process improvement.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including intermediate Word, Excel skills.

Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations and confidential information. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, diplomacy, and good judgment.
