The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Health Professions Department of Health Services Administration (HSA) announces an opening an Instructor rank faculty position. We are seeking a colleague who has experience teaching course content related to health care management. Ideal candidates will have the ability to learn and implement new technologies and have the potential to contribute actively in a variety of ways to program operations and improvement. Knowledge of and experience with learning management systems and online education is required. This position will play a key role in identifying undergraduate internship placements, teaching the required experiential learning course, and maintaining successful relationships with a variety of external stakeholders.
The preferred candidate will possess a Master’s degree in healthcare management, public health, healthcare quality and safety, business, or a related field and have a minimum of three years experience working with students in a post-secondary program, in student recruitment, or in a capacity managing external partnerships. Applicants should have demonstrated a knowledge of academic operations, classroom and distance instruction, curriculum development, student mentorship, career development techniques, and employability skills and strategies. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, but this is a non-tenure earning position.
UAB’s Department of Health Services Administration offers two doctoral programs, and masters programs in in Healthcare Quality and Safety (CAHME certified), Health Informatics (CAHIIM accredited), Health Administration (CAHME-accredited, ranked #1 in the nation by US News and World Report), and Healthcare Simulation (one of a few in the nation).
