Job Summary:

We are offering current Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists the opportunity to work on an as needed basis in the Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital as critical care nurses. The daily work assignments will be on the inpatient unit most in need of support at the time of the shift. Clinical assignments are likely to include the care of COVID patients.

The Critical Care Registered Nurse Float will apply the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. The Float Critical Care RN effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team; collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Further your professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.

Department Summary:

Float Pool Critical Care Nurses provide specialty services in the critical care units as well as in step-down. Some of our Critical Care units are the MICU, SICU, Neuro ICU, CVICU, and the TICU. Supplemental staffing provides a crucial service for our customers, not only to ensure safe quality patient care, but provides support for our unit colleagues as well. You will be offered opportunities to expand your knowledge and maintain an expansive skill set which will enable to you to become a resource to others.

Additional information for SRNA applicants:

• If this program is no longer needed, as determined by the CNO, 30 days' notice will be given to the SRNA's that accept this opportunity. Should the program end, the employee would be eligible to apply for Registered Nurse PRN positions, or any other positions, for which they are qualified. They must be interviewed and selected by the hiring manager of the new position.
• If this program lasts more than 3 months, the CNO will review eligibility for PRN incentive pay programs.
• Employees that do not meet the minimum commitment may be released from the program. This will not impact future opportunities for employment with VUMC.

Position Shift

PRN: A minimum commitment of (2) 12-hour shifts per 6-week schedule

Day Shifts and Night Shifts available.

• Day Shift 7AM - 7PM
• Night Shift 7PM - 7AM

• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
