Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative , patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
Understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Conveys instruments and supplies to the surgeon as necessary, and is responsible for maintenance of the sterile field. Maintains and follows accepted hospital procedures under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment utilized during the surgical procedure.
Department Specific Duties: ï¿½Picks supplies and instrumentation for surgical procedures. ï¿½Participates in maintenance of preference cards. ï¿½Assists RN with room preparation. ï¿½Maintains and promotes a clean environment and uses infection control practices ï¿½Participates in sterilization and disinfection processes ï¿½Assists in cleaning between cases ï¿½Sets up and maintains sterile field ï¿½Selects and sets up appropriate instrumentation for cases and cares for specialty instrumentation ï¿½Maintains accurate count of sponges, sharps, and instruments ï¿½Follows preference cards to select routine supplies, equipment and instruments ï¿½Assists with draping and positioning of patients ï¿½Passes appropriate instruments and supplies to surgeon and assistant ï¿½Handles, labels, and passes medications to surgeon under the supervision of the RN
Required: ï¿½High School Diploma or GED ï¿½Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times). ï¿½Completion of a formal OR tech training program
Preferred: ï¿½Certified as an Operating Room Technician preferred ï¿½One yearï¿½s experience in the operating room preferred
