This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. The Registered nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgement, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling, provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being; and executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider. The nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community. The registered nurse, as a licensed professional, will be responsible and accountable for his/her practice. Duties include but are not limited to: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the residents served and interprets information to identify each resident's individual needs Follows resident's personal requests and needs based on resident's MDS (minimum data set) care plan. Makes assignments and directs activities of supportive personnel (i.e. NAs, LPN, MSA or other team members.) Documents care given in the medical records in a consistent, accurate, concise and timely manner. Implements and delegates nursing interventions/orders and physician's orders in a timely and complete manner, requesting assistance when needed. Functions within established guidelines and demonstrates the ability to work effectively and develop therapeutic relationships with patients, their families and other professional and supportive personnel who provide patient care in collaboration with the NM, Creates a positive work environment which enhances care delivery and professional development of clinically competent staff.
