The West Palm Beach Veteran's Health System (WPB VHS) has one (1) vacancy for a Registered Nurse (Clinical Coordinator), in Surgical Service, West Palm Beach, FL. The Clinical Coordinator works proactively with surgeons and providers to preserve and enhance access to Surgical Service, weighing multiple competing priorities and seeking resolution in the best interest of all Veterans. The Clinical Coordinator reports to the Chief of Surgery and requires a strong background in both perioperative nursing practice and clinic environments. The incumbent assists with the Service's overall Performance Improvement, Practice management efforts, Quality and Risk Management Programs, including the implementation of rules and standards regarding Quality of Care, Patient Safety, Provider Competency and Credentialing and Privileging including OPPEs and FPPEs. The Clinical Coordinator provides direct support to the Chief of Surgical Service regarding the supervision of Performance Improvement, External Peer Review Program (EPRP), Peer Review, Patient Safety, Infection Control, VASQIP, patient incident reporting, Joint Commission Surveys (TJC), Office of Inspector General (OIG) Combined Assessment Program investigations and other programs which are or may be assigned to the Chief of Surgical Service. Provides back-up support and works in conjunction with the Clinical Practice Leader to ensure optimal Surgical Service health care delivery program. The Clinical Coordinator, in collaboration with the Chief of Surgery, is an advanced level nurse who assures that the surgical services provided throughout the continuum of care is timely, appropriate, of high quality and is cost effective care. The Clinical Coordinator will possess a strong understanding of clinical practice and a strong working knowledge of administrative policies and practices, clinical expertise in the perioperative setting as well as strong writing and communication skills. Utilizes and provides expert knowledge in clinical data analytics and data analysis on an ongoing basis, improving efficiency and effectiveness of processes, usability of healthcare information systems while assuring facility metrics and national metrics are met. Will utilize Excel, Pyramid Analytics, SAIL, and VSSC databases to monitor, track and trend various outcome metrics at the local, regional and national level. The Clinical Coordinator prepares detailed reports on efficiency, flow and clinical outcomes; tracks and trends data as required weekly, monthly and quarterly. The incumbent assists in improving organizational performance with coordination and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams within the healthcare facility. The incumbent coordinates clinic schedules, surgical residents staffing and administrative support in conjunction with surgical scheduling; coordinates provider leave and access issues in the outpatient clinics and the OR daily. Collaborates with surgeons, multidisciplinary teams to develop and/or oversee data elements and outcome measures related to surgical patient care. He/she may represent the Chief of Surgical Service on committees and/or task forces or groups for administrative and clinical issues. Responsibilities also includes support to the coordinator of the surgical residency program; education and training of personnel in the components of the EMR, optimization of clinic utilization, Clinical Pertinence Reviews.
