The License Practical Nurse has an open position within the Medicine Specialty Clinics, at Corporal Michael J. Crescenz Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. We are seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse who possess good organizational skills as this enables the completion of work and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. Duties And Or Responsibilities May Include But Are Not Limited To The Following: Uses judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments. Accurately recognizes, reports and records relevant patient information. Works with the RN and/or MD/NP to appropriately orient/train less experienced LPN/LNs, Nursing Assistants and Health Technicians in relation to acceptable standards of practice in promoting optimal patient care delivery. Responds to the patient's needs for care, medication, and equipment assisted care Provides effective reeducation to patients and/or family members in relation to common disease processes, medication and/or prescribed treatment regimes. Performs support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the patient, assisting in the diagnostic examination, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the patient's condition before, during, and following the procedure. Provides care of patients and their environment contributing to optimizing patient/resident outcomes as a member of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team. Provides reporting, communication and documentation in the computerized patient record system with other members of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team. Recognizes, responds and initiates appropriate level response to medical emergency such as cardiac and/or respiratory failure. Triage and report significant findings in patients with complex medical diagnosis Demonstrates knowledge of disease process and therapeutics by recognizing changes in patients status and reports pertinent information to charge nurse or provider Perform venipuncture, administer injections, and ensure clinical exam rooms are prepared and ready for patient care. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Outpatient Clinic experience preferred. Experience with assisting during minor procedures in an outpatient clinic setting. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday: 08:30 AM - 04:30 PM (With Episodic Requirements To Work Beyond Tour To Meet Agency Needs.) Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.
