Work Hours/Shift: Full Time, Nights, 10p-630a, Friday-Sunday and 2 week days
GENERAL SUMMARY: Oversees patient transport team. Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: · Directs daily work of patient transporters and communicates with leaders as needed. · Schedules team members to provide adequate coverage. Reviews time and attendance. · Trains new and existing employees, updates personnel files. Follows up on complaints and reports them to the Supervisor. · Evaluates work requirements and assignments; ensures efficient use of employees and distribution of workload. Provides input on performance to supervisor. · Demonstrates and ensures competency in transporting all specific age-groups. · Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination; brings the proper requested equipment. · Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians, or reception and dispatch. · Ensures patient comfort by being attentive; offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. Never transports patients in severe pain. · Immediately alerts nursing staff to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction. · Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs. · Complies with regulator agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO. · Adheres to facility confidentiality and patients’ rights policy as outlined in the facility's HIPAA policies and procedures. · Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: · Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· High School Graduate or equivalent is required. · Previous Patient Transport or Nursing Assistant Experience
