JOB SUMMARY

The Sr. Director, Engineering is a key position for Conifer to help create technology that will put us at the leadership position in our industry. This hands-on Software Leader position will include building and implementing MVP solutions of products that will help us create the new wave of technology led innovation in healthcare for financial and clinical administration. You will be the lead technology strategist for development and implementation of a multitude of MVP products and take them being to competitive in the market. As the product reaches market and is ready for scaling, you will work closely with other technologists to produce key architectural capabilities, to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our systems while ensuring high availablity and performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Your role will require you to work closely with subject matter experts in clinical and financial administration of a practice.
• Your projects will include working with existing technologies within the health systems; reimagine how work gets done within the scope of a clinical encounter all the way to completing the financial transaction for the patient-physician encounter, and technology solutions outside of the encounter into the back office. We will reimagine how a patient interacts with the system and the care providers
• As an IS Engineer, you would want to solve complex problems and have a natural attraction to ill-defined problems that seemingly are intractable and transform them into solutions.
• For this role, you find yourself in the middle of what seems to be chaos but you know you can find the order in it.
• To be successful as IS Engineering, you want to create an impact on solving complex problems for the love of technology.

• Help identify and create elegant solutions to complex business problems

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Include minimum education, technical training, and/or experience required to perform the job.

• 10+ yearsâ�� experience as a senior technologist / technology leader / architect
• Experience with building and deploying scalable apps using cloud platform technologies. We are a Google Cloud shop and familiarity with it would be advantageous. Prior experience with Azure or AWS would also be equally helpful.
• Must have hands-on experience with distributed services on public /on-prem cloud platforms
• Language agnostic. However, hands on working knowledge of several of the object oriented languages such as C#, C++, Perl, Java, Python, Javascript/React, etc is a must. Must understand the compromises in using cloud services vs building a custom service.
• Deep database experience â�� RDBMS and No-SQL, is mandatory. While this job is not that of a database architect, it is important to understand the constraints a database architect may prescribe. Should be very comfortable with SQL and in general with databases in a cloud setting.
• Must have experience optimizing queries, know where indices are missing and think carefully about inner vs outer joins.
• Must think about automating software development processes. Have experience with automating testing (unit, functional and regression), provisioning (production deployment) and monitoring.
• Since performance is key in a clinical and financial setting, it is important to understand the work processed and help appropriately model performance tests
• Understanding of scalable, cloud architectures and experience in applying them to real world problems
• Extensive Agile / Scrum experience is preferred
• Knowledge of health interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, ANSI) and different healthcare systems (EHR, EMR, CDS) a plus
• Familiarity with EDI would be helpful
