ChristianaCare is currently seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse for our Pediatric Associates group located on our Newark campus in MAP II.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, day shift coverage (4 nine and one 4 hour shifts per week)
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assigns patients to exam rooms and prepares them for examination
- Administers patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
- Performs assigned nursing procedures for comfort and well being of patients
- Assists physician with procedures.
- Performs various lab tests; reads and records results.
- Uses special diagnostic and screening equipment.
- Manages patient medication administration safely and effectively, including immunizations.
- Manages prior authorizations, referrals, and prescription refills.
- Assists with quality control of lab by checking equipment, documenting results, maintaining records of lab results, and work schedules.
- Assists with maintaining inventory of supplies and keeping exam rooms stocked.
- Documents in a timely, accurate, and concise manner reflecting proper use of terminology.
- Functions with an awareness and application of safety policies and in compliance with Infection Control policies.
- Performs effectively in emergency situation following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events.
- Maintains a sound knowledge base of nursing care for specific patient population.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility and accountability for own professional practice at all times.
- Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patient rights in all aspects of patient care and strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner.
- Actively participates in the development of department, and Nursing goals. Maintains required credentials of CPR and mandatory in-service education.
- Demonstrates effective communication methods and skills, using lines of authority appropriately.
- Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with all healthcare team members.
- Maintains an attitude of helpfulness, courtesy, and cooperation towards patients, families, physicians, and other departmental/hospital personnel.
- Performs waived and moderately complex lab tests to include use and maintenance of lab supplies and instruments and participation in the office quality control program.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and to provide the care needed.
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
- Appropriate clinical experience.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
