MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois, required.
- A minimum of five (5) years nursing experience in an acute care setting is required.
- Current Cardiac Cath Lab or Open-Heart Surgery nursing experience within the last three (3) years, required.
- Must possess an active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. (Must provide proof at time of interview)
- Must possess an active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. (Must provide proof at time of interview)
- Must be able to take on-call, required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a school of nursing.
- Certification in Peri anesthesia or Critical Care Nursing
- Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Bilingual
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
- Current ICU charge nurse experience
- Current one (1) to five (5) years of ICU, cath/ EP lab, Trauma and/or Burn experience
- Current experience and knowledge R/T hemodynamic monitoring and titration of vasoactive medication infusion
- Experience and knowledge of radiological safety
- Current moderate and deep sedation administration and monitoring experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
- Knowledge of current principles and practice of pre and post anesthesia care nursing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and age groups
- Demonstrates leadership/management ability in the absence of the charge nurse
- Demonstrates awareness of patient/family rights and ethical issues
- Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for professional practice, growth and development transferred in or out of the unit
- Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy and precision
- Ability to prioritize, plan and organize projects and tasks
