NURSING FULL TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY
Harper College Health Careers seeks a full-time, tenure-track faculty member to provide instruction in the Registered Nurse and Practical Nurse programs. Located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Harper’s Nursing program has excellent, long-standing partnerships with clinical agencies in the Chicagoland area, offering degree and certificate programs for students seeking immediate employment in nursing. With state-of-the-art facilities, Harper is home to a nursing laboratory and interprofessional simulation hospital, where real-world procedures and situations are simulated and practiced.
The nursing programs provide theory and clinical education in the nursing care of patients in a variety of health care settings. Instruction includes didactic and clinical education with practical application, as well as simulated practice. Candidates should possess expertise in areas such as patient care, organization, communication, classroom management, curriculum development (including writing syllabi), and developing classroom teaching activities using traditional and alternative delivery methods.
Didactic and clinical instruction of students in the nursing programs?including?course development, updating and submitting course syllabi in required format, assessing student outcomes, research and development of resources for instruction, and utilization and development of instructional design methods that include technology (simulation). Timely evaluation of students including reporting of student grades and progress is required.
Six office hours per week for student consultation and advisement and participation in professional development, both internal and external, to remain credentialed in nursing and to advance in the instructional role are required.
Requirements:
Master’s Degree with a major in Nursing is required. Candidates must have a current unencumbered Registered Nurse license (Illinois) or eligibility for Illinois license and current CPR or BLS certification.
At least three years nursing practice in medical surgical areas; nursing experience is defined as providing hands on nursing care for patients in an acute care hospital or long-term care facility.
