The role you will contribute:
Transports patients to and from various patient care areas within the hospital and at discharge. Responsible to adhere to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan, and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Repetitive Duties:
Performs routines in a safe, competent, therapeutic, and cost-effective manner.
Demonstrates knowledge and ability in providing basic care to the following age specific patient populations: the geriatric patient, the adult patient, the adolescent patient, and the pediatric patient.
Consistently uses supplies, linen, materials and equipment in a safe and cost effective manner.
Uses effective communication skills (including both listening and speaking) with all members of the AdventHealth care team, patients, and families.
Maintains communication with the bed placement coordinator to ensure prioritizing of patient throughput.
Carries iPOD and responds in an appropriate timeframe.
Ensures safe transfer of patient from stretcher to bed, bed to wheelchair, wheelchair. Application of brakes for mode of transportation is ensured during patient transfer.
Safely discharges patients using wheelchairs. Insures safe transfer from wheelchair to mode of transportation home.
Identifies patient using hospital approved process.
Removes soiled linen and placed in appropriate receptacle.
Cleans wheelchair or stretcher after each patient use.
Remakes stretcher with clean linen after each patient use.
Stocks linens and patient supplies as directed.
Assists Emergency Dept. with cleaning rooms.
Periodic Duties:
May assist with the orientation of newly hired personnel
Attends and participates in all mandatory hospital and unit in-services scheduled.
Irregular Duties:
Required to respond to emergency situations, (i.e., disasters, hurricanes, etc.) by reporting a designated department and staying until the crisis is over or relief is covered by incoming personnel. This is a mandatory requirement. Refusal to respond may result in termination.
Employee job duties may include transport of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area. Employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling hazardous waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of hazardous waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must be able to receive and follow-through on direction and instruction provided by the nurse.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High school diploma or (GED) equivalent is required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Hospital experience in a patient care setting preferred.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Basic Life Support required
