Chief, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine
Hershey, PA: Penn State College of Medicine (PSCOM) and the Department of Medicine seek a collaborative physician leader to serve as the Chief, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy & Critical Care Medicine. This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic academic leader to develop and implement a vision propelling the Division to a nationally leading program.
For 50 years, PSCOM and Milton S. Hershey Medical Center (MSHMC) have served as central Pennsylvania's leading university medical center and medical school. Together, they have played a prominent role in meeting the region's needs for tertiary and quaternary care and have served as one of the region's largest employers and economic drivers.
As the leader of patient care delivery and programmatic advancement across the continuum of pulmonary medicine, the Chief must be strategic and operationally focused to guide the Division's 32 faculty and APPs, three fellowship programs and nearly $4 million in NIH funding. In 2022, the Division opened a new state of the art $25 million, 24 bed, expanded medical intensive care unit to improve patient access, patient experience and foster provider collaboration.
The Chief will enhance clinical programs, educational curriculum and scholarly activity while continuing to meet and exceed national standards of excellence. This leader will foster a collaborative environment to serve as a mentor and advance the tripartite mission. Penn State Health, which includes primary, specialty and acute care locations across the region, continues to transform itself to serve the needs of patients as a comprehensive university health system.
Candidates must hold board certification in Pulmonary Medicine as well as board certification in at least one specialty area. The Chief must also possess qualifications for appointment to at least the Associate Professor rank at Penn State. The successful candidate will be an individual who has a passion for providing outstanding care, a desire to improve systems and lead within a team setting.
